Once the boat is fully seated, use an appropriate bow safety connection and rated transom tie-downs or other restraints specified for the boat and trailer. This prevents road shock from being transmitted constantly through the winch gearbox and strap and provides redundancy if a winch component fails. Inspect the bow eye, winch post and tie-down points at the same time. A powerful electric winch does not replace properly rated trailer restraints.
